Europe's Amundi Opens Bangkok Office As Part Of Asia Drive

Amundi, the European investment house that has said it views Asia as its second domestic market, has launched its Bangkok office for its Amundi Mutual Fund Brokerage Securities (Thailand) business.
Prapatpong Weeramon has been appointed managing director of the office.
The organisation, formed out of a project between Societe Generale and Crédit Agricole over four years ago, says it is the first foreign asset manager in Thailand to receive a mutual fund brokerage licence for distribution of funds under the ASEAN Collective Investment Scheme.
“Entering Thailand is a key step for Amundi in South Asia. The group aims to leverage on their local presence and work closely with both institutional and retail clients in Thailand, providing a dedicated local sales and service infrastructure,” it said in a statement yesterday.
Strategy involves bringing out products to be distributed through securities companies, bank-backed asset managers, insurance companies and global distributors. It also intends to enhance its institutional business by partnering with sovereign agencies, pension funds, government institutions and corporates through mandates managed by Amundi offices worldwide.
